I just saw a news story about London Fashion Week where they are keeping too thin models off the catwalk so young girls aren't inspired to starve themselves. It's a similar thing to the suggestions that Big Brother be taken off the air to stop anyone hearing the racist remarks being said. Surely, it'd be better if these things were shown and people allowed to make their own minds up about it, or perhaps, God forbid, parents could take the responsibility of explaining to their kids why it's not good to say racist things and starve yourself half to death!!

Well thats all well and good but the problem is a little more complicated than that. People have been educated to be workers, non-thinking drones who don't investigate to discover the actual reality of their situation. How are they going to take responsibility for anything ever. What they call thinking is basically just a shuffling of their prejudices.

I look at people as havins an x and y axis. Therefore there are combinations of four things possible. Maybe more but you geyt the point. It might be your opinion on an issue. But for example racism - If a person is a racest I will discriminate against him and I am not a racest. Others will discriminate and are slightly or more predjudice. Others are predjudiced only when aroused.
The other thing - I think the thin girl is intitled to make a choice for her self. I have in my life dated girls with a small body type. Except for a rare diviation all my girlfriends fall into the same mold. At this point I understand their needs like second nature. True they need to eat, the body is small from birth. Not the same thing right.

While I am not in 100% agreement with you on the two issues that you have used as examples, I do agree completely with the principle. The use of legislation and intimidation to silence opinions and actions that the government and officials disagree with creates an artificial society where the truth is no longer spoken and people are obliged to present a compliant facade or risk loss of status and financial penalty. A society governed is such a way is ultimately unsustainable as has been seen with the Iron Curtain countries.

well kids are impressionable and some get there values and morals from the tv as their parents are working or whatever. women dont stay home and bake and bring up the kids anymore so the tv companies know that kids are watching and have to be role models. thats what the watershed is for and if the parents allow young children to see inappropriate shows after this then they only have themselves to blame when their kids grow up and behave like morons.
