Most likely it is going to be a pinched nerve which will get better on it's own but only after a long period of time, (two and sometimes even three months) If it is bothering you a lot you should see a doctor and they MAY be able to give you something to help relax the nerves. Good luck>

Are you having any paralysis? Can you smile and have normal facial movements. If not, go to the ER to make sure you aren't having a stroke. Otherwise, have you had a neck injury or an accident recently? What you are describing sounds like it could be an issue with one of the disks in your neck or upper back that is pressing on nerves. One other possibility I have read about is migraine. Some people that have migraines don't have pain, but get numbness and tingling in the face. I do think it's a good idea to see your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis. Good luck.

I am not a doctor but years ago I had numbness in my tongue and was afraid to go to the doctor. After I got the nerve up to see my doctor, I was shocked and relieved to find out it was attributed to a sinus infection! I had no idea that could be from a sinus infection. I did not have the numbness in the thumbs, though. I would recommend seeing your doctor.

I'm not a doctor, but I have noticed that oral sex can cause numbness in the upper lip, especially if she locks her fingers behind my head and pulls real hard for a long period of time. The lip will swell up and become numb like a beginner horn player.
