Please re-read your question. It makes no sense.
As to the drinking age, in the US it is tied to federal highway funds. A state could lower it, but then would not receive the funds.
Military service at 18 is a great option for many. Drinking should not be an issue when making this choice.

When in the Army you are trained to do a job. Are you trained at 18 on how to drink. ??
In the Army it is legal for you to shoot a gun and drive.
When you drink this is not legal to shoot while drinking or anytime and kill someone, nor are you allowed to drive a car or anything under the influence.
Too bad the legal age for drinking isn't 25 { that would be nice }.

until the last decade or so, you could drink on a military installation at 18 if you were enlisted. But the "crusaders" made it through congress that this was deplorable, and actually tried to raise the drinking age to 25 for everybody. So now, nobody gets to drink until 21.

The drinking age is 21 all the states I believe and not 18, and I think this is odd.

The two questions really do no have much to do with each other. The question is how mature do people have to be to handle alcohol. In the case of some, the answer is they are never old enough.
The alcohol laws at this point are mostly scewed to reduce traffic fatalities as much as possible.

i've wondered about that myself. maybe they should raise the age to join the military to 21 and lower the drinking age to 18. that way high school kids wouldn't get such a kick out of drinking on the grounds that it's illegal.

You must be going to the wrong places. I know of plenty of bars where you flash your military ID and your drinks are on the house (regardless of age).

It's total hypocrisy. At 18 you're responsible and mature enough to kill or be killed "for your country", but your country doesn't consider you responsible or mature enough to have a beer.
