In my opinion if you truly love the person you are in a relationship with then they will be the only person you want to be with and so it will come natural and wont matter if it is expected or not as it will simply happen.
To those who say I met (person) but a few years later he/she had changed and they were not the same person I fell in love with or - I loved (person) then but I have met (this person) and they are the one I want to spend my life with - my answer is this - before you get into any married relationship you should be absolutely sure that the person you are marrying it the 'one' and yes this means starting out as friends, dating 'courtship' , 'getting to know each other' and this process shouldn't be rushed before you get married you should know everything about the person you are marrying and be able to say 'yes this is the one' and mean it not be saying 'this is the one for now till something better comes along' because that is shallow and meaningless and displays insecurity, and childishness and not only this but it shows that you dont care about or respect that person
Is monogamy expected - yes it is expected and in some countries more then others
Is monogamy natural - it should come natural to any relationship if you really care for and love that person, and so will not need to be expected as the person will know that you truly love them and will always be faithful

It's natural, of course, and expected by some,
But, then, only as natural as any other ...gamy.
Centogamy is frowned on by the Tax Service,
While Trilliogamy, is thought by most, impractical
Why you askin?

It is natural especially for the peace, joy and love that comes with it but generally it is expected.

If it was natural then everybody would be monogomous without exception. It's an issue because its expected and people feel let down.
