TRAINSPOTTING....IT HAS TO BE.MY FAVE BIT IS WHEN HE SAYS'BUY UR OWN FUCKIN GLUE'

Trainspotting. First time I saw it I was just blown away. It injected (see what I did there!) a new life blood into movie making during that time and was just the coolest thing you could hope to see. Music driven celebration of being young and working class, Trainspotting didn't feel sorry for itself. My favourite scene is the Begbie's Story scene where he tells the story about the game of pool and the fight. And while Begbie is my favourite character I don't think any of those actors have done anything as good since but Ewan McGregor really stood out as the heart and soul of the film.

You realize that asking for the best of British is like asking what's the best single book in the library, don't you?

Oh, gosh. Nearly anything by the Archers: I Know Where I'm Going, A Canterbury Tale, A Matter of Life and Death, Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes...
Either of David Lean's Dickens adaptations: Oliver Twist or Great Expectations; nearly anything else by Lean;

In Which We Serve, The Dam Busters, The Entertainer, Henry V (either version),;

and I could go on and on, couldn't I?

A favorite image/scene from a British film is at the end of Alec Guiness' film, The Horse's Mouth. Guiness, playing rogue genius artist Gulley Jimson, has set his houseboat adrift on the Thames.
As the houseboat travels downriver, Gulley, his imagination afire, gazes rapturously at the sides of bridges and freighters, imagining newer and larger canvases for his works...

Withnail & I. Without a doubt the very best British movie ever made! Paul McGann, Richard E Grant and Richard Griffiths were all excellent in it. Every scene is a favourite.

In my humble opinion the best British films ever made are 'Gregory's Girl' and 'The Full Monty'. Both absolutely flawless.

Personal Services with Julie Walters and the scene at her sister's wedding was a classic, so was the raid at the sex party at the end.

Zulu! a very good cast, well directed i think by Stanley Baker. Fantastic film showing the heroism of two opposing sides and the honourable way the Zulu appreciated the valour of the British troops. Yes it's my favourite British movie.
