So, some two years ago I had a little accident. I am a postman, and was riding my motorcycle when it was slippery outside. I braked (or whatever) but accidentally "gave gas" (sped up), so I was "stretched" and had a "jab" in my back. I'm not sure if you understood what I wanted to say, but ever since that day I have some kind of leg pain (not severe) that goes through my whole leg and like there's something blocked in my lower back. I don't know what it would be, but the doctor suggested I might have got to go for injections in my back. I'm not a big supporter of that, since all that rubbish often does more bad than good. What would you do ?

Cortisone, that was the thing they were going to shoot into me.

I also think it's a light sciatica, but it didn't show on any x-ray photographs, so I'm not sure, but it is annoying.

In your shoes , having been there, and the luxury of hind sight, I would make myself a list with surgery, shots, medications at the bottom and i would try absolutely everything I could to find answers and take everything I was told with a healthy dose of skeptisism, I wont bore you with details, but after 3 years of Dr after Dr being given bad advice treated with medications that caused more trouble than they solved I gave up on western medicine sat in depression for 1 year then got angry enough to solve it myself with alot of research and heres a good starting point.

I would get at least 3 professional doctor's opinions before making a decision on what to do (or not to do) and even then it would depend on the frequency and severity of the pain.
As you said, treatments for the back sometimes end up causing more issues instead of resolving them so it can be a larger gamble than treatment for other types of injuries.
Have you considered a chiropractor? That's another area where you hear good and bad comment, but it might not hurt to at least speak with one and see what you think.
I hope that whatever you decide it is indeed the best decision for you, and that your pain isn't something you have to spend the rest of your life dealing with.

Before you have any injections, insist on an MRI to find out if you have a herniated disc and nerve root compression. Get to the heart of the problem and find the right solution with a proper diagnosis. Lower spine disc herniations can be the cause of pain radiating down the leg. Good luck, sure hope you feel better.

You really ought to try a chiropractor. You probably slightly misaligned something in your back or pelvis that is impinging on a nerve and the chiro can take Xray and give you an adjustment. physical therapy may also be a great help. Usually very easy to do and can be done at home once a therapist shows you the exercises.

i would say, spa therapies, medicine if you need it for the pain, maybe some natural remedies too. also, injecting cortisone is what i think they did in vietnam if somebody got shot in the leg and they couldn´t move. inject some cortisone and he´ll be ready to do a suicide run. sorry, if i am misinformed as i never fought in vietnam, much less anywhere else.

It sounds like sciatica and my husband had it . He had the injections of cortisone (epidural) and it made a world of difference. I don't know what you have heard about the bad things about the injections but I think you are being mislead.

If I was you I would go to a Nutritional Therapist since I don't like the Orthodox medicine as they never know the cause and just giving medicine with usually bad side effects!

Go to a chiropractor. Some of them have a new machine thats out that stretches you. I know someone that had it done and now there is no more pain. I'm sorry I dont remember the name of the machine.

I say trust the doctor.
Doctors study for years to be able to do what they do. They won't present you an option that'll harm you.
