when making up agar plates why do you need to ensure that the depth of nutrient agar is the same in all the plates. I need scientific knowledge as to why pls!

It's just a control- something that needs to remain the same. If the depth is not the same, then each dish has different amounts of the culture medium, and if this occurs, one dish will have a higher carrying capacity and a higher allow propulation density than the other, and that may screw up some things.
