It's really hard to get leftover wax out of a hurricane lamp. Try melting the wax under hot water and get as much of it out as possible. Buy Goo-gone, you can get it at most grocery stores and clean the rest with that, it works quite well. The next time, spray the lamp with Pam Cooking Spray and just wipe enough of it off so you can't see it. The wax won't stick to the glass next time, do it every time you change the candle. Works like a charm!

Submerge the lamp into hot water for a few minutes, then with paper towels the wax should easily come out or you could use your fingers. I do it all the time.
You can also run hot water over the outside of the lamp, which would make the wax soften. In most cases the wax just 'slides' out of the lamp with ease.

Put cold water in pot put it on the stove add the glass that has the wax melted in it the turn the burner on to med or low. When the wax on the glass melts use oven mits to to dump it out( a plate with 4-5 paper towels works grate to poor the hot onto. you should be able to pop the paper towels off when the wax is cool.) Shut the burner off and let the cantor come back to room temp. Do not add cold water to pot as it could make the glass crack.

You can also freeze the hurricaine lamp. This will make the wax easier to get out.
