All babies are different. My son is only 2 months old and he wears size 2 diapers. He only wore newborn diapers for 2 weeks and he weighed 7.5 lbs at birth.... Um, and Luvs are terrible. Unless you like cleaning up poop from the baby's back.

I wouldn't stock up too fast. My son has been in size six since he was about five or six months old (he's now 13 months old and he and his sister at 2 1/2 both wear the same size). That doesn't leave a lot of time for sizes NB - 5 ! You never know how fast your baby will grow!
Oh, and besides the size, you never know about what brand will work best for you. I didn't think it would matter to me, but it turned out that Huggies just fit my kids better than Pampers, particularly when they were newborns. I have also heard of other people saying that although one brand worked best for one child, another child fared better in a different brand (fit differently or didn't leak as much or allergies or whatever reason).

You will only need a couple of packages (the smaller grocery store size) of N and 1. The baby spends quite a bit of time in 2 starting at about 2-3 months. They move to size 3 in about 3-5 months later. They will move into size 4 between 12-15 months and then into 5 a little bit before potty training. Now that I told you that, you kid will be totally different. Stick with two small packages of size N and 1 and then one big Sam's Club size package of 2 and 3. You will need more but that will give you a good headstart.

I only used a few NB. I still have a whole package of them that are just sitting in my sons closet. As for the stage 1, I used a couple of bags of them. I used a couple more bags of 2. We are now onto the size 3. My son is 3 months old, but he weighed 9 lbs 2 oz at birth! You want to use the size that is a little bigger than you child, otherwise you run the risk of leaks. And I prefer Pampers!

Our daughter was early, small, and sick (had to have a couple surgeries), so she lost a bunch of weight and was preemies and newborns (diapers and clothes) for a couple months. My boys, on the other hand... They were 11lbs each, so they never even used the newborns. I had bought a pack when I was pregnant with our 2nd, and ended up returning them after he was born (along with all the newborn size clothes! They didn't even reach his shoulders! LOL) I would only buy one small pack for now, and a couple packs of size 1's. They'll eventually grow into those, but they may not need newborns at all. You can always ask someone to run to the store before you bring the baby home, if you need to. Good luck with the new baby! Hope this helps!

It just depends on how fast your baby grows my firstdaught was in a size two until like 5 months and my second daughter is 2 months and still fits in size one so this is want i did i bought 4 packs of new born 4 packs of #1 and 4 packs of #2 and that seems to work well and you can always exchange if your baby doesn't fit into size 1 anymore.... good luck

You proably won't need much more than one package of newborn diapers. My baby was 9 pounds 6 ounces and never even fit in them. Size 1 will probably fit for 2 months, size 2 for about 3 months, size 3 for 4 months...
You can't always go by the weight on the packaging.... my sister's rule was that the diaper came half-way up the back, and above the belly botton... her kids would always "blow-out" so she needed a bigger diaper to catch it all.
You might not like the way one brand fits your baby... I found that Huggies fit better on a wider bum, and Pampers fit better on a skinny bum. It all depends on your baby... keep your receipts!!

I would just stock up on all sizes. My daugther was nearly 4 months when she started a size 3 diaper, and she was 13lbs. It just depends on how fast they grow, her legs are chubby so she needed the bigger size around her legs. Shes now 5 months and still wearing size 3, she had size two around 2 months. When you notice that the pooh is not staying in the diaper, chances are they need the next size.

Depends on the baby how big at birth/sex and how fast they grow so with my kids at 9 lbs they went into size one like no more than 1 week after being born and into a size two at around 3 months maybe i know for sure at around 6 months just depends on babies size

hi size 2 diapers in huggies start at 3-6 kg 7-13lbs
pampers start at 3-6 kg 6-13lbs
size 3 diapers in huggies start at 5-9 kg 11-20lbs
pampers start at 4-9kg 9-20lbs
due to the over lap from diaper 1 i never put my child into size 2 i went straight to size 3 but if i was too she would of started wearing them at 4 weeks old but because i took her straight on to size 3 she started wearing them at 9 weeks up until she was 45 weeks old then she went on to size 4 which is the size she is still in now and shes nearlly 3 my daughter was 6.lbs15oz born but i think in all depends on how much your baby will weight and at what age i hope this has helped you and good luck Emma
