Definitely not. He is being recognized for his role in "Dreamgirls" and "Norbit" should have no impact in the Academy's decision.

No, Eddie Murphy is a true movie icon. He has already made comedy history and nothing can take that away. I love Eddie Murphy because he is his own person. He has his own special way of making people laugh. It's your own opinon to like the movie or not. I haven't watched it yet but I am sure it'll be just as good as The Nutty professor. It may not be a Academy award movie, but every actor/actress has had atleast one crappy movie.

I watched Norbit today, it was funny no doubt. I think Dream Girls would get an award any day because of the genre of the movie. But Norbit would deserve an award for his acting of various characters. I think it would not destroy his chances because they are two different types of movies.

Probably not. If that was the case, during those rare instances when an actor, actress or director receive multiple nomination in the same category they should be considered a shoo in to win. If it was me though I wouldn't have allowed Norbit to be released until after the votes were in, not unless it got rave reviews.

Yes. He ruined all his glory from Dreamgirls. Norbit looks like a really really bad movie.

Did "Splash" ruin Tom Hanks' chances at the Academy Awards? I think not.

I hope not. But they (critics and alike) should be used to it. Eddie Murphy is known for doing silly but funny comedies, where he dresses up and acts like stereotypical characters. I don't think he means any harm.

If his "singing" career and other movies haven't hurt his career then I don't see Norbit hindering him in anyway.
