Life experience is very important. Most popular authors become popular in their mid-30s to 40s at the least. This is very important in finding the theme of your story and subtly reveal it to your readers.
But in the end the important thing is telling a story well-told. You should learn how to tell a story. There are many books and websites around with advice.
Try http://www.storyentertainment.com for tutorials and read these books, in this order:
1) Story by Robert McKee
2) Screenplay by Syd Field
3) On Writing by Stephen King

A great idea or story isn't even half the battle of writing a good book. If your style is unappealing, no one will read it. I have no idea what your writing style is like, so I can't say. Practice practice and more practice, thats what it takes for most people to get to be good writers. Very very few people are born to be writers. Most have worked really hard to become that way. A lot of people, some of my friends included, want to be writers. Honestly, they think they can just write down what they have to say and people will suck it up because its a good story. With the ease of publishing and writing technology today, the literary world is saturated with good writers. There is so much being produced its getting harder and harder to have a big audience even with great writing. If you're willing to work hard at it, you can be a success if thats what you want. If you just want to write down your story because you need to, then do it, I bet it will make you feel much better.

I think this book is a very good idea. I like to read stories about these things because it makes feel stronger and thank God for it not to have happened to me , but i also pray for the people who did go through those things. It might even help you out knowing that someone else in the world is going through that too, and that they are not alone.

I say write it because, if you don't, you're always going to wonder what would have happened if you had. There are writing workshops out there, usually affiliated with your local colleges, that can help you improve. When you're ready to publish it, ask your local library for the latest edition of a writer's resource called "Writer's Market."

write poetry instead. u have a lot more freedom to say what you want and use words more descriptive and detailing words, without cluttering it all up.
