im straight and i go to swimming i feel comfortable with this swimwear, but people just look at you.

I don't think gay but I do have a hard time trying not to smile. Young, buff males could probably get by with one but the ones I always see sporting the speedo are anything but and the fact that their beer belly overshadow much of the actual package really makes for a nauseating picture.

I doubt if a girl would think you're gay - but she might be put off by your lack of taste. The only time you should wear a speedo is when you are actively participating in or training for an athletic event. Men who wear one as a regular swimsuit seem to fit in 2 categories: they almost always can't pull it off and look ridiculous or they can pull it off but then seem egotistical.
Imagine men wearing cycling shorts instead of regular pants or shorts. It doesn't matter if you're in terrific shape - unless you're actually running, cycling, etc. then it's inappropriate. This may be unfair but this is definitely what the average woman thinks (and, yes, there's probably lots of comparable things women wear and shouldn't).

It would depend a lot on the crowd you are with. At a swim meet? No. At a favorite hang out for adolescents, probably. Lokk around you and see what the other guys you are interested in being around are wearing, and wear something similar.

Some girls would. The girls that actually realize that you can't judge a person's gender preference based on swimwear probably wouldn't. So, it really depends on the girl, doesn't it.
