at the present time, three bodies are considered "dwarf planets". they are ceres, pluto, and eris. astronomers need to get more information about "dwarf planet" candidates before astronomers can classify any of them as "dwarf planets"

i don't know how long this will drag on. many planetary astronomers are not satisfied that the new definitions are rigorous enough.
