The Polar Bear. It is a close thing between it and the giant Kodiak Bear, but the Polar Bear officially gets the title. The Polar Bear can weigh as much as 1,500 pounds in extreme cases while the Kodiak can weigh up to 900 pounds max.
On the other hand, the greatest length is 8.4 feet for a Polar and 10 feet for a Kodiak. It depends on what you mean by 'largest' - height or weight?

The polar bear (Ursus maritimus) and the Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorfii) are the two largest bear species. Polar bears are considered the largest on average, but there is some overlap in size between the two species. Polar bears are reported to weigh 900-1500 lbs, while Kodiaks are reported to weigh 500-900 lbs. The heaviest reported polar was 2210 lbs, but the heaviest reported Kodiak was in excess of 2500 lbs. You decide!

I think Polar bears get the largest.. but then I've never been face to face with a Grizzly.

It use to be the giant sloth bear but it was extinct a long time ago and i'm quite sure it' the polar bear.
