Henry David Thoreau hit on an essential quality of life in modern America with that quote. Think about it. How many people really achieve what they set out to accomplish in life, and how many struggle, fuss, strive and end up with nothing but broken dreams, debt and memories? I think the quote is pretty self-explanatory. It's true. The mass of men DO lead lives of quiet desperation.
