there will never be another schumi, has to go down as the greatest as he didnt always have the best car, ( ferrari were crap when he joined and look what they became, same when he was with benneton), if u call schumacher a cheat you can call senna a cheat also as he blatantly drove into prost when they were both fightin for the championship and took him out of the race. in my eyes neither are cheats, just born winners who do whatever it takes to win. Sadly i think F1 will have a massive void without schumacher who did so much for the sport

No. After 30 year you should have learned to watch with a more open mind Senna and Mansell are hero's of the sport, Schumacher, despite phenomenal all round talent was a cheat. Persistently. And no other great champion made so many big mistakes (remember when he broke his legs?).
How come Schumacher fans completely disregard the talent of Alonso? (who else got points in a Minardi?) The youngest drivers champ of all time, and he didn't have the best car, he beat Schumacher to the title twice, fair and square against massive adversity. It was as if the FIA were trying everything they could to make sure the Schumacher left as drivers champ. But Alonso was too good, and one of the reasons that Schumacher left, the other being the phenomenally fast Kimi Raikkonen. Schumacher would never want to be upstaged by his team mate, he was already feeling the pressure with Massa.
There are a draft of great drivers at the moment, rarely has there been such a talented field, as well as Alonso, Raikkonen and Massa, there's Kubica, Hamilton, Webber, Heidfeld, Kovalianen, and Davidson. In that order. I truly believe that this season with be one of the most intersting for a long time.

I must admit that i m no fan of either mansell or Schumacher but I do know where you are coming from after Senna I couldnt watch formula one as it was too boring with out a driver of such expectional sklill and talent. I am holding out for the next generation... word has it that Senna had a very young nephew that he was reputed to have said that will be a greater driver than he (senna) ever was.

Fernando Alonso is clearly a very very talented driver with car control skills around the level of Senna, etc. We may never see someone match the numbers that Schumacher put up (91 wins, 7 championships, etc.), but that's not why people loved Senna anyway. There will always be excellent drivers and plenty of reasons to watch F1, even if Schuey is one of a kind.

Nigel Mansell had balls; of that there is no doubt. Whether he had ultimate brain-power, I somehow doubt.
Schumacher is a brainy-driver and a great tacticion, which may or may not include an ability to out-fox, out-brake or just put another driver out.
To my mind, only four drivers ever had it all: Fangio, Moss, Jimmy Clark and Ayrton Senna.
I would place the abilities of Clark and Senna as equal and the greatest of them all; even allowing for the changes of technology.
There are those coming up to replace them of course, and Alonso is one hell of a driver. As for Hamilton, he has performed brilliantly in every aspect of motor-sport, and I think he may well be the first ever black world-champion if he gets the car to match his talent.
All of them, of course, were or are very special people, but if I were to pick just one, I think it would be Senna......a brooding, intense and complex person with car-control and a turn of outright speed which had to be seen to be believed.

Alonso has a good chance of winning again this year which would make him a triple champion. I suppose three-in-a-row would make people believe that he is great. You could also start thinking about using the D word..."Domination". He's still young. He can drive for anouther 10 years if he wants to. In those 10 years, I'm sure he will win the title again...may be a couple... or more...Who knows, he might one day eclipse MS's record. People will then be saying that Alonso had won so many because MS had retired...just like they said about Michael after Senna died....

I think it's possible, but we will have to wait for a new era to begin. The young drivers we have now show true potential to be the best, but not in the fashion that Schumacher has. His abilities are truly unmatched as of yet, but anything is possible. Even with Schumacher as good as he was, look how long it took him to beat Senna's record for poles. His style of driving may never be seen again, but how many people thought that no one could beat Fangio's record. It's not about records, but what happened to beat them as well as who did it. It will be a while before we see greatness like these drivers again, but it's all about time. Just when you think you've seen the best, a new era starts and new great drivers emerge. Give it time, I'm sure they are around the corner waiting to be discovered.

I never liked Schumacher as a person but have to admit that he is a fantastic driver although, at times, I think his conduct on the track was slightly suspect! I found Mansell just boring, bland and forgettable. Ayrton Senna was the king - for me he led the F1 lifestyle that we all imagine - fast cars, fast women. Drove fast and died young, sadly.

Fernando Alonso will be the face of the future. he's young and already got one record for being the youngest f1 champ. if McLaren can greatly improve the reliability of the car this season then hopefully Alonso can make it 3 in a row.
Don't discount the likes of Robert Kubica, Lewis Hamilton and Nelson Piquet Jr. I'm sure their names will feature highly in future statistics.
anyway what about good old DC? he may not have won a world championship but he has certainly given a lot to the sport. oh and he was quickest during testing at Barcelona on Wednesday.
