If so who are they? If you could send them a message right now, what would it be?

Well, as I understand it there are quite a few American soldiers and sailors and marines over there, right? Yes, I love them. And if I could send them a message right now, I would say we are proud of you, we admire your restraint in the face of so much unjustified criticism, and we are glad you are professionals who do not take it personal when people are rude to you.

See, a lot of them are not able to separate what they hate about the president or what they understand (or mis-understand) about the reasons why you are there from you as a professional military man or woman with a job to do. A job for which you were well trained and better able to do it than most of the people who spend their time complaining.

When I was young, I protested the war in Vietnam, but I always distinguished between contempt for the people in Washington who were mis-managing the war and respect for the men who were forced to fight. But that was an anti-draft movement: there is no draft. You are there because you are professionals doing a good job in a high-tech 21st century Army that most of us scarcely dreamed of back in the Vietnam era.

I love you, and I feel good about saying so in front of all these people. Hold your head high!
