The best tip I can give if you want to save money is to get yourself on a budget. I have an Excel spreadsheet where I have everything I spend money on listed with a budgeted amount. This includes debts, bills, and anything I'm saving for. I make sure that this totals equals my income.
Then I track how much I actually spend against the budgeted amount. It helps you see exactly where you money is going and what things to change to spend less.
This "trick" has given us complete control of our money and it's helping us get out of debt so we can enjoy life in the future.

Do not pay annual fees for a credit card. All you have to do is call and say " I wish to waive my annual fee". They may act like they don't know what your are talking about...but they do. Just say..."I do not wish to be charged, nor pay an annual fee". I have never ever paid one since I heard this tip....and I heard it about 10 yrs ago.
Another way to save....send money to a savings account as an automatic monthly transfer from your checking account....and don't touch your savings until AFTER you have 3 months income saved. Pay into the savings like its a bill and you have no choice but to pay it. Never dip into that 3 months part of your account either. Everyone needs a 3 month cushion in case of illness or job loss.
Find out if your car will run on E85 gas which is usually 5-9 cents cheaper a gallon than typical gas pricing. Check inside your gas flap for a sticker or check your manual.

Be very strict with yourself for 2 weeks and do not spend any cash what so ever except for your bills and food, then see how much money you have saved! spend the money buying different and interesting things from second hand shops, car boot sales and anywhere else that comes to mind, then list them on EBay as descriptive and as professional as you can and it is almost certain that when all your things are sold you will be in profit. look at stuff on EBay that sells well and try to get that kind of stuff! then keep reinvesting your money this way, you won't get rich quick but it can be fun selling and you will come out in profit. Good luck

Clever? NO. Unusual? YES - pay off your credit card balances every billing period. Unusual? YES - save on the credit card interest rate that may be 18% to 24% and completely tax free.

My best tip is to really keep track of EVERY penny you spend. I use software and track every purchase. At the end of the month when you see how much each little purchase adds up it makes you want to quit spending so much! $5 on lunch here and there all the sudden turns into hundreds at the end of the month! I also round up to the nearest dollar when I enter how much I spent to inflate the numbers a little and make me want to spend even less!

IT was not really clever but I know that the saving money 'sales' get on my nerves.
I dont care about saving $50.00 on a shirt that I dont need.
So I guess my suggestion would be to stay out of the mall.
and shop at discount stores (marshalls, value city, tj maxx, etc.) when you want to treat yourself to something new.
