I have this freind. HE IS NOT A BOYFRIEND. we've been friends since...first grade, i think. we were really good friends until just recently. Now, he's just really whiny and annoying, he makes sure that he has all of my attention, he insults my friends, and he sucks up to me just to keep me his friend by giving me gifts and taking me places. My friends hate him, my parents hate him, and I really want to let him go, because he is screwing up my life. But there's one problem; he only has one other friend in my town. he's..well, not easy to make friends with because he criticizes everything and has this thing where he always has to insist that he is right, even when he's not. And he knits. HE IS NOT GAY. I want to let him go, but first, I don't know how to do it without completley killing him (figure of speech...) and I don't know if he'll be able to make new friends. I don't want him to become depressed or try to wreak havoc on my life, both of which he is capable. how do i let him go?

It's not going to be easy....but I suggest you tell him that he's making your friends, family and yourself VERY UNCOMFORTABLE with his poor attitude. And that unless he's less hostile toward them...he'll lose YOU as "a friend!"
If he gets upset by your thoughts...that's his problem and not yours!

I think you should better tell him about why people dont like to make friends with him and tell him that he wont minimize the annoying thing, you will leave him as a friend. You can tell him this when he is a good mood and tell him this in a little joke way.
You know he wont stop doing those things unless somebody tell him, especially his only friend.GUD LUCK!!!

tell him how ppl are seeing him if he don't kno yet. since yu are his friend for now, be a good friend and assist him to become a better and a likable person. when someone is messing up yur life, yu should focus on the reason for the problem than the problem itself. he might have a personal problem tht is needed to be solved. but when yu cannot stand him anymore tell him tht he is messing up yur life and tht yu don't like him for who he is. the final thing to do is to do something tht would benefit both of yu and keep yur life going. sorry i couldn't help yu out much and good luck...

He might like you (as more than a friend) and that's why he's acting this way. The best thing for you to do is to talk to him and explain that the way he's been acting is making you uncomfortable and you need to take spend less time together .

Talk to him about his behaviour. Tell him why people are distant from him and that you are thinking of the same.
Don't be afraid to let him have it in a friend kind of way. Tell him to stop whining and stop being annoying. STOP buying you things.
Just talk to the boy!

Knitting is theraputic, and it sounds to me like you don't want to let go of those gifts and nights out. The best way is to be honest and forthright. Just tell him that you feel smothered and that it's time to move on.

Just be his friend and not see him often. but dont' desert him in time you'll see hes ok and you'll both go diffent way but you can make new friend salso .

sweetie you need to tell him how you feel because if you dont tell him you will resent him later and you need to have your own friends
