I'm assuming you're taking gymnastics training. If so, trust your instructor. If not, get one.

You shouldn't really attempt a stunt like this if you are not in the right condition, or have no intruction in it. Consult a gymastic instructor or maybe get into the sport itself. Once you do that, you'll definately learn a backflip -really fast!
Good luck!

well if you have never done one, don't try it on flat ground and by yourself you could hurt yourself badly, including breaking your neck. Can you do any sort of tumbling. If you can't even do a handspring you won't be able to do a flip. I suggest doing one on a trampoline, and then if your parents will let you, take a tumbling class, where they have people to spot you, teach you and the equipment to help you do it right. Just don't try it on your own, unless you have past tumbling experience.

My kid friends do it from the stage to the floor. The stage is 18 inches higher than the floor. It gives you more time to start with.
I would suggest a double mat till you get confidence. It is scary, careful!
