I am getting ready to take my 2005 Chevy Crew Cab to Pismo Beach for the weekend. What are your suggestions for prep and cleaning in regards to sand and salt water?

Both of the above answers are good - just remember that warm or hot water will dissolve the salt better than cold - which means that hosing it down in your driveway probably will not do enough. Take it to an automatic wash (they usually use warm water), and run it through twice - once just for a basic wash, then again with wax (was is optional - just don't have was on the first wash, or it'll seal in some of the salt.)

This is what I do:

Find a good automatic car wash, it will spray underneath your car when you pull in. Run through that once and then run through it again!

You can also find the car washes that have the pressure washer & brush options. Take the pressure washer and spray it underneath real good.

Generally, just make sure you wash the car with lots and lots of fresh water to get the salt off.

Don't go in the ocean. Clean the salt and sand thouroghly after you are out of there or it will rust something awful. Use a pressure hose or car wash wand.
