Last night I watched Star Wars on HBO. It just got me thinking, like I get that the doids memories were erased but, shouldn't Darth Vader be like, “hey, I remember building that robot, how you doing tin guy?” Am I missing something?

I like saulg21’s answer but, I think Darth Vader did see C3PO in The Empire Strikes Back at the end of the movie. Am I wrong?

In a way he does because when he passes c3po he pauses and tells them to leave him alone. You won't chatch it unless your looking for it. It's very sutle.

That's exactly what I've been saying!

Thank you! Those movies make no sense with everybody knowing everybody. And WHY was it necessary to have the droids in every single freakin' movie?

And as for people who constantly come up with the excuse "well, there were a LOT of droids around... so, Vader wouldn't know one from the other...." Uh, they kept their original names throughout the movies (C3PO, R2-D2 and not like R5-J4 or any other identification or markings).

That's like saying he wouldn't recognize Chewbacca on a planet full of Wookies even though he's the only Wookie answering to the name Chewbacca.

edit: I totally agree with Logan17. George Lucas is a lazy, fat azz who spent more time with the special FX dept. then actually sitting down to write a good story for the prequels.

Which is why Empire is the best out of all the chapters. Because George didn't write it. Leigh Brackett did.

The Answer to that would be the following: Though he built C-3PO that droid was a very common model of droid. In the first Episode "phantom menace" you see a pink version of him. In the first movie, episode four now named "A new Hope" you see another droid that looks just like him standing behind him and you will also see an identical droid in the "Empire Strikes back" movie in cloud city.

Another thing is that Darth Vader Suppressed Anikin VERY hard and barely remembered anything from from from his previous life, before he fell to the dark side. Also he never got close to the droids or heard their names.

But you know what? the REAL reason is that the prequel movies where made after...in my opinion the droids SHOULD NOT have been put in the prequel movies...because then we wouldn't have to make excuses like this eh.

Darth Vader didn't build C3PO, Anakin did. When he switched to the dark side he became a different person. In the same sense that he was willing to fight his own son to the death.

Actually,if you've noticed that Darth Vader ,R2D2 and C3PO never come within visual contact of each other.I bet things would have turned out different if they DID see each other again.

All protocol droids ended up looking the same, so It would be hard for one to distinguish. Another thing is, Palpatine pretty much brainwashed Anikin when he finally turned him to the dark side. Many of his memories from his previous life had been supressed, becasue they would allow Vader to remember what his life was like before he became a sith lord. the last thing Palpatine wanted was for his right-hand man to go soft on him.

Well...he was a different color...and when he first left him as a child he had not been given his outer covering yet...and then again, it could be that the last 3 movies sucked and Lucas just got lazy and put is a lot of effects to make up for a weak story line....who knows.

Because star wars came out in the 70's

because when he left to become a jedi, C3PO didnt have his outer coverings. so a gold, silver, blue, pink etc would all be the same to him.
