I have matched one black/blue one black/brown and isolated 2 red in 4th block. Before fixing the light I checked the lighting and it worked but when I had installed it - it didn't neither did the wall lights in the room. I can't understand why the wall lights were affected as the fuse is OK. there is an earth. Any ideas??

the main block with different colours is your loop
feed they change because with switch wires you
should find the to reds you isolated are spurs
for your wall lights the only way i could rectify
this now you have disconnected it all is a full continuity test
you should leave it to electrician

Check your connections again,I expect a wire has come adrift.Just make sure the fuse or breaker is of first.Your connections seem right. 2reds join together. One black will be the neutral, which joins with blue, and the other black is switched live, which joins to the brown. The wall lights may be looped of the same circuit, and if theres a cable come adrift,it could affect them as well.

Hi,
The 4 core cable is for "Two Way Switching" (Hall lamps etc) it is really simple to do but differcult to explain, one of the RED Cables is the live and the other is "Switched Live", the best answer is to get someone to draw it out for you and then you will understand it. Hopes this helps.

yeah you have disconnected the lighting ring main - probably the switch circuit - one of the blacks will actually be a positive when the light switch is turned on. be carefull what you are doing if in doubt get a sparky!

checkout the positive, you need a electricians screwdriver to do so,if you find you have more then one live wire then this will be the problem,
