im 36 weeks, is this too early??? i really just want him out!!! he is kicking my ribs, and is moving ALOT more lately, and if i really wanted to "self induce" myself, i would do it when i was 37 weeks, (next monday the 19th) because my wedding is on the 16th of
Feb.
is it wrong to want to self induce my self at 37 weeks??? i mean, an average term baby is 38 weeks???
sorry, im just ready, and not being able to sleep because you have your son's foot in your ribs is really painful
thanks for all answers (even negitive one's)
***oh...and i always thought self-inducing was stupid, until i hit this far along!!!***

For the sake of your baby don't do it.

the average pregnancy lasts for 41 and a half weeks. Inducing yourself is not only dangerous... it can cause harmful outcomes for your baby, mostly with their lungs not being developed and having to be incubated. You should just be patient and wait it out. 36 weeks is a MONTH early. A baby will NOT come out until its good and ready and "fully cooked". And don't believe what people are saying about 36 weeks being full term. Completing your 38th week is considered fully term. Some docs will say 37. But NEVER 36.

Nothing, not even a medical induction, will work most of the time until the baby is ready.
And let me tell you that if you hang around a lot of babies and toddlers you can soon tell the ones that were born weighing less than 6lbs. They are a little different.
Now to give you hope. At 37 weeks you *may* start using something evening primrose oil to ripen your cervix and also sex, walking, and swining. You may also increase or start taking red raspberry tea which may give you braxton hicks. This may cause labour to happen sooner rather than labour and make it go faster once it does start.
Another great thing to do is see a chiropracter firstly to make you more comfortable now, secondly to make sure that the baby is in the optimal position for labour.

At 36 weeks the baby is full-term. You can try a lot of things to kick start labor but don't pin your hopes on it happening. Babies are notorious for showing up on days when you had something else planned. The best way to start labor is walking and lots of sex. Squats and stairs are said to help to. Evening primrose oil and castor oil are supposed to help but check with a doctor first. Ultimately, you can spend the next three days walking and having sex non-stop and the baby will not come until he's ready. The hormones and stretching from sex can give labor an extra push if the baby and bod are ready (it may give you a day or two boost). This is the hardest part of pregnancy; morning sickness, dizziness, sore breasts, all of this is nothing compared to the torment and discomfort of waiting the last couple of weeks.
Congratulations on the wedding and the baby and good luck.

You want your child to come before s/he is ready? I think that's a little selfish. I do understand why you are ready BUT it's important to let the baby come when it's ready. Self-induced labor shouldn't be done in my opinion--by using herbs, spices, or other remedies. Walking does help but I doubt it'll happen that much earlier. I know the anticipation you are feeling and the pain but just stick it out for three more weeks and I promise everything will be okay! Best of luck whatever you decide to do!

just because you have a bigger space now doesn't mean the baby has dropped. Mine dropped and I never got extra room.
Self inducing can be dangerous as even though "most" babies are ready at 38 weeks not all are. The baby knows when it should come. Taking castor oil can give you horrible diarreaha and send you to the hospital.
I know how uncomfortable you are but it's better to wait it out for his health.

One you can't self induce yourself.. you can try but it is not going to work. And yes their have been some women who have gone into labor at 38 weeks.. but that was when the baby was ready to come out. there is no way you are going to have the baby come out unless he or she is ready to come out. If your dropped... then you are getting closer to the point.. you have already held off 36 weeks what is another 4 to you?

Well first of all I would wait another week at least.
But also... those "home remedies" to induce labor really only work if your baby is ready to be bron. Most of them do start contractions but they only turn into labor if the time is right.
Please please please do not take castor oil. All it does is induce bowel movements/the runs which again induces contractions. If it does get you into labor (again will only happen if it time anyway) then you will be in labor and having the runs. I heared some very ugly stories about that stuff!

I'm sorry to hear how uncomfortable you are, but for your own sake as well as the baby's I think you need to wait until he's ready to come out. After all, if there were any problems caused by his early arrival you'd both have to live with them for the rest of your lives.
Enjoy your last few weeks of pregnancy as best you can, and best wishes to yourself and your forthcoming new arrival!

"oh...and i always thought self-inducing was stupid, until i hit this far along!!!"
It's still stupid. Desirable, sure, but stupid.
"When researchers in the late 1980s followed a group of healthy, white women with regular menstrual cycles, they discovered that pregnancy in first-time mothers averaged eight days longer than this, or forty-one weeks plus one day (2)."

Frankly, I'm surprised that your doctor 'won't let you go past 40 weeks.' Weird.

It doesn't work, but good luck try.
Sex, spicy foods, orgasam, nipple stimulation...
I have a baby 7 weeks old and nothing worked. Babies DO come when they are ready regardless...you know that there have been inductions that fail too...good luck have have fun trying though.
