go in band....its soo much funner and kids dont make fun of you or anything...its actually pretty cool to play in band in middle school

Orchestra. Everyone knows Orchestra is way cooler! Just kidding. Actually, I did both, and have found, in my own personal experience, that orchestra has been more helpful to me in the learning and playing of other instruments. I don't play chello anymore, but I have picked up the guitar and the mandolin. I used a lot of the same technique that I learned in Orchestra, not really any that I used in band. So that is my suggestion.

Orchestra...i was in band during middle school..it was fun, but we played a lot of theme music with loud horns. we never played really good classical until Mozart in 8th grade. I always wanted to play violin in an orchestra, but we didnt have it. definitely orchestra so u can play the good stuff!

It depends on what style of music you are looking for. If you want to play marching music, like upbeat, faster, and fun type music, I'd take band.
If you are looking for a style where you can play slow, classical, or creative pieces of music, I'd take orchestra. My school doesn't have an orchestra, so I play the flute in the band. Lots of fun!

good luck i finish high school already, don't take neither one guys are not into girls that play violin except geeky guy, but if you are beautiful then play anything you want you'll still get a boyfriend. o and play orchestra i guess. you are going to have top dress with ugly clothes in the band

Try to go to the orientations for both. Let your future teachers test you to see what instrument is best for you . Instruments are very expensive and so you need to make an informed choice. Also rent your instrument for the first year that way if you decide you want to change or music isn't for you there is not a lot of money down the drain. HAVE FUN !

i remember entering middle school. try to be very social and outgoing because most 6th graders are more shy. be the one who everyone wants to be friends with. pick out a stylish, true- to- yourself outfit that makes you look and feel great and focus on your studies. it can be more overwhelming than elementary school. smile alot and laugh. just be yourself. its a very fun time in your life. good luck.
