No your parents do not have to know, most health clinics if you are of a certain age, I think 16 will give you birth control, but be prepared for a Pap Smear and a couple of videos they'll make you watch. This may very state to state, but here you do not have to have a parent's consent.

Yes and no. I'm 100% in favor of being realistic to the potential for teenage sex and I believe they should have complete access to over the counter birth control, i.e., condoms, spermicide, sponge, etc., but when it comes to birth control that affects hormones, such as the pill, the depo provera shot, nuvaring, norplant, etc, things that require a doctor's prescription, this is where I'm on the fence, because I think this should warrant parental involvement as a matter of safety. Some young women simply are not good candidates to take hormonal birth control, there are risks and side effects that can prove dangerous. A young girl may not know the extent of her family medical history or her own and whether or not taking such drugs could pose a risk to her health. Just for this reason I think a parent should be involved to help her understand these issues and aid her in making an informed choice about the risk/benefit ratio. And the doctor should make a decision based on the individual girl and her health situation as to whether she's a good candidate for hormonal birth control. If the parent feels a legitimate risk exists in prescribing the pill, shot, etc for her child, she should have the right to refuse her to have it. If it does not appear any significant risk exists after all information is on the table, it should be the girl's choice.

Yes, go to any health department! It's actually the law that they CANNOT disclose any information with your parents, or anyone else without your permission.. And you don't have to be any certain age. I'm not sure if there are different laws in each state, but every where i have been it is completely confidential. They won't even let your mom make the appointment for you. Look in the yellow pages for the health department/clinic in your area and call and make an appointment. Just say " i need to make an appt. for birth control". And they will hook u up. Good Luck

Go to a client
If you get on birth control and decided to have sex
IF you do not want to get pregnant, do the following
Birth Control, never have sex with a condom and use a spermicide. Using all three should make you safe from pregnancy. The only 100% way of not getting pregnant is not to have sex
Go to you mom again. Make a promise that you will be on the birth control for six months before you will consider having sex.
Tell her before you do, you will tall to her
Give you mom a chance
If you agree, you must keep your promise

Tell her your doc suggested it to regulate your periods. I did that, (though it was true) because I had terrible periods when I was 16 years old. The cramps the bleeding everything. Birth control can help make some of that a lot better! Good luck!

Yes there is you can go to see a doctor at a planned parenthood or even your pediatrician, just go alone or with a friend and if you request that your parents not know then they will not tell. I would get the shot instead of the pill because you only have to go every three months and if your parents do get curious there is nothing for them to find.

it depends on your family doctor. My doctor tried to tell my mom about regulating periods and all that stuff and she was not trying to hear it so i had to schedule another appointment without her knowing and my doctor was willing to talk to me about my options. He told me to go to Planned Parenthood because everything there would be done separate from the insurance that my mom had me under, it may depend on the laws in your state but if you call Planned Parenthood they will tell you your choices.
maybe your mom didnt expect you to come to her so soon about it, if you cant find anywhere to help you, wait a week or so and then see if you can sit down with your mom and explain to her about regulating your period and reassure her that you are not going to use it as a green light to start having sex but that if it ever were to happen you would rather be safe than sorry. i know its easier said than done. good luck

ok...do you have a planned parenthood anywhere around??? they do not need parental consent (at least not in montana)
but tell your mom this...here is my story:
" i had asked my adopted parents if i could go on the shot again (my birth mother let me, then i moved to south carolina to get away from drugs. etc.) i wanted the shot because i knew for a fact that it lessend my period cramps, which were extremly bad...well they told me no...they feared it would allow me and my boyfriend to have sex...well as we all know, just because your not on birth control doesnt mean you wont have sex, i am now 9 months pregnant, and due march 12th...it frustrates me, because even though i was practicing safe sex (using condoms) i still got pregnant, and i really wish they would have listened to me when i asked to get back on the shot!!!"
