well if you mean the size of the country, if it is too big to effectively govern its area, meaning to it so spread out or shaped where its capital is on one side but the rest of the land is somewhere else, that could affect its ablity to govern itself. this is also true if it has extremely long or big boarders with its surrounding neighbors. A country who does not wish to be influenced by its neighbors will post armies at its boarders which in turn can and will affect its foreign policy.
