I'm supposed to start a new pack of pills today (I've been taking the placebo pills for 7 days), but I just realized I didn't start my period earlier this week like I should have. I'm a little worried, and I'm going to take an early-response pregnancy test. I don't think I've ever missed a period since I was 12 years old, and I'm 24 now. BUT, assuming the pregnancy test is negative, should I start taking the pills again today like I'm scheduled to or should I wait for my period?

Take the pills exactly like you are scheduled, meaning, go ahead and start the new pack today. Also, take the pregnancy test and see how it comes out. Don't worry too much, because it is not unusual for some women to miss periods while on the pill, especially if you are new to using the pill.

Yes some people don't always get there period on BC. If you dont start your pills on time you leave more of a chance of getting pregnant. Remember our bodies change every so many years. Even if you were pregnant which is rare (but it happened to me) it wouldnt hurt the baby. Wait till you had a positive test or a doctor gave you a positive to stop.

Did you miss any pills during the month? Sometimes if you were off on your pills, your period will be off a few days. I would call your pharmacy or your doctor's office and ask them what to do about taking the pills.

Birth control pills can really harm a fetus, if you ARE pregnant. Even if the test comes back that you are not, it is still a possibility (as some women don't produce enough of the hormone that the test recognizes for the first few months). I would call your local pharmacy and ask them, as they are VERY knowledgeable about these things.

Did you start taking these birth control pills recently? Like last month or the month before?

Keep taking them like normal. Don't skip a day or anything. It will take a pill pack or two or three to get back on track.

I'd ask your doctor or even your pharmacist if it would be ok.
