The last moment of happiness I had was when the person I like spent the whole day with me and we laughed and had more fun doing the work than we had any right to have.

This morning I called my Mom who lives in another state, just to say hello & talk a bit. My wife was on the computer and we got my Mom to go to a dog website with really cute pics of puppies. We laughed for such a long time together it made me truly happy. The simple things in life often bring the happiest moments. I love to hear the people I love laugh.

When your volunteering your time with terminally ill patients as a Hospice Advocate and you get in touch with that person inside that shares all their stories, laughter and memories with you.
That has to be the most happiest and empowering moment as well as fulfilling. Just being there with someone that you don't even know and learning from all their life's experiences.
There is no other replacement to that type of happiness in helping someone leave this planet fulfilling their wishes.

I'm writing at 4 am.
I'm severely mentally ill and was persuaded in acute care to get over, a bit the grief of my wife's dying and to get over my feeling of abandonment when my three of my four daughters only see me from one Christmas to the next. I'd been in hospital for a week before one of them noticed my house lights weren't on
I decided to be assertive, mean even. I sent all the presents for Christmas then went to a party with good friends. I had a wicked notion of them all looking around and saying "Isn't someone missing?"
Since all has been beautiful. Last week I had all 9 grand kids with me and I venture to say they came more to me than their parents.
Having a lady whom I adore agree to come for a weeks trip to Hamilton Island (an art Prize) has changed a life where I never wanted to wake up at all to good stuff. Surely that's what happiness. It's all relative to before and after. If I die tomorrow I die happy.

I laughed my butt off yesterday in the middle of a medical exam. My wife was in there with me, and the doctor had his stethoscope out and was listening to me breathe. My wife (who was born to be a mother) is so used to doing this with her kids that she started deep breathing with me. I lost it and cracked up and the doctor had to tell her not to make me laugh. We were still laughing about it 40 minutes later.
The simple pleasures are the best.
