Hi there....

If I was you I would uninstall mcaffee altogether and try a different, maybes free, antivirus. It would help if you told us what version of windows you have. If you have the new Windows Vista then many antivirus programs do not work with it yet, especially the 64 bit version. If you have windows XP or 2000 then I would recommend you try the free antivirus called AVAST. I have used it for years and it is great. Here is a link to the free Home user version...

You have to fill in a short form and I think the details to download are emailed to you. I trust this anti-virus completely and work in IT Support and recommend this to home users.

Try it and if that doesnt work we can try another one called AVG.

Also if you use internet explorer see if the very good alternative Firefox works. Firefox is immune to most problems that Internet Explorer suffers from.

You may be able to download it OK if something is blocking antivirus.

I not real sure. You may try deleting all the anti-virus programs you tried to install. Then go here; http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm
and run a free on-line scan (If it work) to check everything. Then go into add/remove programs and delete the Panda. Then run a scan disk and defrag and "Then" try to download a virus software and see how it do.
As mentioned above there are some good free programs.

(3a) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

(4) Download hijackthis
(5) Post the hijackthis log on the hijackthis forum for the hijackthis experts to take a look

You aren't trying to install other anti virus programs WHILE you still have one on your computer, correct? Because that would be your problem. You can only have one or else you will have system lockups and, eventually, an unresponsive computer. You shouldn't be trying to put other anti viruses on your computer period. Just delete everything you tried to put on and try Mcafee again. :)
