wouldn't that already be considered a US victory in the Iraq war? US troops might not be able to stop the sectarian violence, get the electricity working full time in Baghdad, or make sure a Democracy works in Iraq but whether you agree w/ the war or not they are winning the war on terror simply by engaging the terrorists 24/7 and in a mess like Iraq that is a US victory. No???

Yes this is a good way to look at it. The terrorists are busy and thats what keeps us safe. To pull out would be to leave a breeding ground for terror attacks.

Well, yes and no. What you're saying would be a good thing if the army we have over there were all regular army troops, but a rather large percentage is or has been National Guard whose members have been uprooted from their civilian jobs. Yes, they're volunteers, but I wonder how many of them expected to have to serve more than one tour of duty in Iraq and I wonder what effect this has had on families that had been established for years, only to have to begin all over again when the breadwinner returns home, sometimes in a casket. I wonder what the percentage of deaths is between National Guard and Regular Army. As one poster said, being in Iraq keeps them busy instead of sitting around in the US getting fat. (That person has no idea of what our military is all about.) Many of the people over there would be at home doing their jobs and supporting or helping to support their families. I just wish we'd declare victory or whatever, bring our people back home and let the 60% of Iraqi's that don't want us there anyway rejoice over our leaving as they're being killed by their own countrymen.

that's a simple false impression. If Al Qaeda labored like a usual government or something, perhaps this analogy could be proper, even yet it incredibly is not. Al Qaeda operates on a "cellular" point, so operatives and small action communities purely want a message from somebody of their chain of command to turn on, they are in many situations self-funded, by using distinctive function of being the two funded by using some valid employer activities the place earnings are funneled in direction of cellular activites OR by using illict skill. the two way, that's how the Madrid and London operators have been functioning. the main suitable thank you to verify it, is like Mc Donalds or 7-11 , the corporate headquarters could get nuked and the CEO could get killed, yet that would not extremely influence the franchise proprietor in Chicago, manhattan or l. a.. it could temporarily disrupt or disable their communications , and the "maximum suitable case" could be to possibly even cut back off a cellular from it incredibly is command/administration, yet no longer something prevents a "status order" to turn on or disband the cellular in the form of case, besides. because it stands there have been some public terrorist incidents (Anthrax in FL,CT,super apple,DC & NJ, the thwarted aerosolized cyanide/sarin in NYC, The London bombers performed quite a few efficient "dry runs" in the super apple subways - unbeknownst to place of delivery secure practices, and maximum those days the botched Ricin attack in Las Vegas.) and place of delivery secure practices has in fact caught up with quite a few different communities or persons whom could or would possibly no longer have been making plans severe assaults upon US landmarks or inhabitants centers.

To some extent, yes, but until the troops have control of the situation there and the murder stops, we're still far from victorious.

Keep in mind that one military tactic is to provide a diversion or a situation where your enemy will concentrate and thus give you a chance to deal with him in a localized area, preferably not on your own territory, and where you can focus your own forces.
