I would love to get either or both, but am not sure now after hearing about some lady dying after being bitten by her Boa who had it. I would definitely keep it clean as best I can, but I want to get a pet that I can hold and allow to walk around a little bit without worry. Please help! (Also, if either one bites you, can you get sick, or is it real bad)?

I forgot to add corn snake to the list.- are these snakes a lot smaller or friendlier than the others?

well i don't know where you heard that but salmonella is only in there feces so if you are avid at picking it up when it shows up then you will be fine. I my self have had salmonella and I'm still alive. you get sick really sick for about 1-2 weeks and there is nothing you can really take for it you just need it to run it's course. I would say go with a bearded dragon they are more personable and handle able. Ball pythons are handle able but they reach a Leigh of 6 feet where a dragon gets to be about 23in and the have beautiful personality's and all around an awesome pet. But please don't not get into the reptile industry because someone else did something wrong. It is easyer to get salmonella from rabbits and ginne pigs then it is to get it from reptiles. just wash your hands after every cleaning and handleing, see they pass it to you by walking through there feces and then you handle them and you dont wash your hand you will more then likely get it.

yes you can get salmonella from a reptile, however it is due to poor care of the reptile tank. Meaning lazy owners that do not clean their pets enclosure often will grow bacteria and can cause to infect you with salmonella..

I've had reptiles for 6 years and I have 4 of them. I have never gotten ill but it is suggested to wash your hands after handling them. I have never been bitten by either of my Beardies.

Reptiles don't have salmonella nearlly as often as people think, as long as you wash your hands after handaling them you will be fine. Normally they don't bite, but if they do just thouroghly wash it and put antibiotics on it

Well I don't know which one would be worst but it's acually quite rare to get it let alone die from it but if I were you I would get the Bearded Dragon they are alittle more predicdable so you'll know if it's going bite.
