I don't trust the man but if I try to put myself in his shoes I do find there is some validity to some statements he makes. He's not a stupid man but I suspect he may be a dangerous man because he See's the United States from a much different view then some . I'm quite sure he feels we are an adversary and that could make him dangerous to deal with at some point in the future. Although things seem to have improved in our relationship somewhat regarding Russia over the years I still feel that it may only seem so because there are subversive behind the scenes activities which go on that are not that actively reported.
It relatively hasn't been long since we provided support for Osama bin laden and others in Afghanistan in order to drive out the Russians . Likewise in the Iraq / Iran war Russia supported Iran along with China so for me we have a long way to go before I can trust a Russian leader.

Putin is trying to reestablish Russia as a world power. It is a country is disarray. It's military is a shadow of its old self, it is beset with crime and alcoholism, and its economy has never made the transition to free market mechanisms. Yet, Russia must not be ignored, and Putin understands this. It is sad he has destroyed some of the progress toward democracy and human rights, and is often siding with rogue regimes.

Trust in Putin only goes as far as trust in anyone else. Trust up to the point that it interferes with their goals and well-being.

Dude, every other answer above me is WRONG! Besides me, the entire Russian people trust Vladimir Putin.

How else could he have a 87% rating in the polls? Isn't that the sign of a good president rather than Bush's 34%?

Think about it, man, think about it. Putin is the man. He is more capable.

NOTE: HAHAHA! LOOK AT THE UNBELIEVING IMPERIALISTS GIVING ME THUMBS-DOWN.

No one, not even the Russian people. He would rather reinstate the Soviet Union than be president.
