Those numbers just make me sick. My house has had flood damage, damage due to ice storms, and wind damage. Guess who paid for it. I did. I took responsibility for myself and my family. I didn't blame the government nor did I expect them to hand me over a check. Oh, and I didn't have any warning about the storms coming nor was there an emergency evacuation.

First of all she has asked for the money to rebuild the New Orleans greater area. Which includes more than just the city of New Orleans.
Imagine for a moment? You come home and your home is missing, all your clothes, and your car floated off. And on top of all of this your babys are gone. Your two children and the babysitter. You cannot reach anyone by phone. Then you find your babysitter and two kids in the attic dead. They drowned.
You work two jobs so that is why you were not home the night of the hurricane and flooding.
Just Imagine this! This has been devastation at it's worse.
And then you see your Government give all these billions of dollars to a country where the people hate Americans for the most part.
Hello, you are very naive.
Until you have actually experienced something, you have no right to judge.

Actually, they need lots of money to pay for the huge pile of dirt it'll take to raise the city above sea level. I think the plan is to move an unoccupied mountain from the Rockys to New Orleans.

you are assuming that the residents would get the cash .it don't work that way.first the lobbists get paid to bribe 2/3 of the polititians to vote the pork, consultants are brought in, deals have to be made with constuction industry(mob) , crooked land deals with local polititians.corporate welfare, etc. in the end that family of 4 might get food stamps and qualified for section 8 , not 2 million cash.

$250 billion? I can't find any evidence of that. Can you site your source instead of just cutting and pasting an anonymous email?

An interesting aside, Mary Landrieu has been accused of sidetracking money for the levees before Hurrican Katrina.

The money is to rebuild the infrastructure. Most of the money would be used to rebuild the levees and flood control channels that the Republicans failed to update, and for which they vetoed a much cheaper bill to do these repairs BEFORE Katrina. What will cost money is rebuilding the streets, water lines, electrical service, etc. The people who live in New Orleans are not going to get this money, it will go to Federal Contractors who do not live there or own businesses there.

Was that just strictly for the city of New Orleans or the many cities and towns in Louisiana affected by Katrinas destruction?

If you are correct, then I'm sure the Dems will vote to give it away, course Bush could veto it.

you forgot to add the billions they already got. i think it would be cheaper in the long run to build them a new city, away from the coast and hurricanes, and one that isn't sinking into the ground year after year.
