i have wiped most of it up with towels and am soaking them in cold water to get most of the soap out, but what about the rest on the floor? Any ideas for easy clean up? I have a lot of white shop towels on hand.

Vegetable oil. Detergents are designed to break up and "absorb" oil and it works in reverse. Use the shop towels or a cheap sponge mop and mop lightly with the vegetable oil. Then mop as you normally would with plain water until you get clean water after the mop. Any dry powder (flour, baking soda) can soak up a large liquid mess and make it into an easier to handle paste. Then you have to mop well after.
Vinegar can work but it depends on the alkalinity of your detergent, you may get quite a bit of foam. My husband was supposed to clean the kitchen one time when the kids and I were out of town and he used our carpet steamer to mop. It worked really well. If you have a carpet steam cleaner, fill the tank with plain hot water (obviously there is enough soap on the floor) and use it.
Hope this helps.

Plain water is your best option
If it is on flooring - If you have a shop vac, set it on wet. pour some water on the soap, scrubbing it and then vacuum it up.Then use damp rags to mop up the remainder. Keep rinsing and wringing out the rags, sorry it will be time consuming
If it is on other surfaces such as washing machine, just keep wiping with rags, keep rinsing and wringing out the rags.
If it is on carpeting - Lukewarm tap water should be used in most cases to rinse the cleaning solutions from the fiber. Failure to completely rinse the solutions from the fiber may cause accelerated soiling.

you would attempt cat muddle in a small area and be conscious if it is going to take in the detergent. My husband makes use of cat muddle to freshen up spills in the storage each and each and every of the time. I doubt that the cat muddle will harm the floor and if it fairly works it is going to likely be a lot a lot less complicated to freshen up and could go away a lot less residue to target to mop up
