hey guys, i have a question...i bid on something on ebay...and on ebay you can put a max bid right?...but u only have to buy it for current price well cant the seller a few minutes before the bidding ends bid on it himself so the current price is really really close to my max bid?

Yes he can do that.
It is called shill bidding, it is illegal but I am sure that it happens more often than you think.
Problem with this is that the buyer does not know how much your max bid was so he could outbid you and be stuck with his own item and having to pay the 'commission' on it.
So unless he knows what you are thinking in terms of bidding. It is not a good idea for him to do so because he has to pay the 'commission' if the item is sold and he could end up paying $20 or thirty bucks on a $400.00 item!

If the seller wants to bid on it himself, he would have to do it under a different account... Ebay doesnt allow ppl to bid on their own stuff..and some sellers do just that...but I would say most are honest in their auctions.
