Pahrump is a wonderful little town. My husband and I make a point to go there one day out of our Weeks vacation in Vegas(we go several times a year). About 5 years ago we looked into purchasing land in Pahrump for investment, if not to build. We could have picked up a piece for a reasonable rate. Decided not to at the time. This January we went out and made our trek to Pahrump, checked on land again...Couldn't BELIEVE how much it had gone up in 5 years. The "answers" you've gotten so far make is sound as though there are no casinos in the town...there ARE. The Nugget is very impressive. Terribles has two casinos and there are a variety of smaller ones. There is also a Super Wal-mart and we heard a Lowes or Home Depot is coming soon. It's a booming little town and only a one hour drive from Vegas. We love the trip. It breaks ups the monotony of Vegas.

That is where my aunt lives is in Pahrump. It's an hour away to Las Vegas so I doubt a Casino is going to buy it but she does say that they are building new homes up there like crazy. If your friend wants to sell the land I'm sure a Realtor wouldn't have a problem selling it for them.

Pahrump, Nevada is not near any Interstate highways, and as such does not attract the volume of people needed to make a large casino really profitable. In fact it is kinda where people go to get away from the hustle of the big city. Some small casino may sprout up some day, but I doubt any of the large gambling interests would be building there.

Pahrump is growing rapidly, but there is wide open space out there still, so if a casino wanted to buy it, they would probably find you. However, the zoning laws in Pahrump are very loosely written, and almost anything can be used as commercial property. Probably the best thing to do would be to build on it if it is close enough to residential and get some commercial structures going.

PAHRUMP is growing very fast. If you friend has had the ground for 10 or more years its value has gone up greatly.
Check with a realtor out there. You will need to know where it is so they can tell you.

Pahrump has a Smiths and an Albertsons, maybe a Walmart now, three or so small casinos, it is not
like Podunk anymore.

You could contact a realtor in that area. I'm sure they'd be able to find out the value, and the market.
