the OG and some 1999 retros have Nike Air on the back.
all others have a jumpman.

this is because Jordan decided to make their own branch, and not put Nike Air on the shoes anymore, like the III's, IV's, V's, and VI's

That's because when Jordan was playing basketball he had a contract and endorsement deal with Nike, hence the name Air Jordan. But, once Jordan retired he lost the endorsement deal with Nike, but still wanted to live out his legacy (and make money) he started his own line of apperal called the "Jordan Collection" and that's why you will see a sign of a Jordan in flight on all his new and retro Jordan's and clothing line because he owns exclusive right to his name and logo; if he were to use Air or the Nike sign, it be considered copyright infringement.
