I'm 3cm and 90% effaced. Since yesterday I have had an increase in vaginal discharge accompinied by lower abdominal pains similar to menstraul cramping. The discharge has no fowl odor and the color is a dark off white almost a light beige/yellow. I spoke with my midwife and she said it sounds normal as long as itching or discomfort of the vagina doesn't develop. Midwives and doctors aren't always correct. I have been told things in the past to be normal and than had to experience treatments later. ie, I developed a yeast infection and it was written off as normal discharge until I was swabbed and checked at my appoitment three days after the phone call to report it was made. This doen't seem to be the case, but I am always open minded and sceptical. Anyone experience this change in discharge around the same point in your pregnancy, if so, what happened?

That sounds a lot like you are loosing your mucous plug as your cervix dilates and that should be very normal, yes. Although of course, without seeing it, I can't tell you for sure. But if you were 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced a day ago, you must be holding your baby right now, so congratulations.
