Ok, my very best boy friend (who is also the boy I like) and I were talking yesterday and I finally told him I like him, and then he said 'It's best if we stay as good friends'. But some of the things he can do to me are really sweet sometimes, like he said he trusts me and he said he cares about me because I'm his best girl friend (I've never had that said to me before) and he hugs me a lot too.
But what did he mean by 'It's best if we stay as good friends'?

He probably really cares about you & he's afraid that if you start dating something could happen to ruin the friendship that he treasures so much.

It seems your guy friend know you like him but he may not be ready for a relationship right now and does not want to ruin what you and him have as friends because he might feel that it might cause conflict and that is not a risk that he wants to take right now. Friends can hug each other and say they care about each other as friends, nothing wrong with that. Once he sorts things out and makes the decision that he wants to date you then he will know and tell you, but don't push it because then you may never get that chance to date him. Just wait and see what happens.

I think it means he wants to be "JUST FRIENDS" think about how weird that will be if yall become boyfriend girlfriend...Some guys don't know how to make that change....Stay his friend and see where is will go from there...If he really likes you in time he will be with you...

Sounds to me like he would like it to be MORE between you, but maybe he isn't wanting romance yet. The signs are good, though from what you said., he sounds GENUINE! I'd say go with it and give yourselves time! Good friends can be good lovers and marriage partners eventually! Don't give up!

I think it might mean that he isn't ready for something that serious yet. He probably feels something deeper about you but he just needs some time to realize it.
