Where does Presidential candidate John Edwards stand on Abortion, Social Security, and Gay rights/marriage as of the 2008 election?

Honestly, I don't know...but. Please. PLEASE! Don't make those the issues that you make a presidential decision on. Abortion and gay rights aren't issues the president even has any legal authority on (only Congress can craft new laws and only the courts can interpret them)--if the president interferes with either (through federal enactments) he's playing bad with the system. Social Security, I will admit, matters. But, in my experience, almost all candidates say "It's broken, we should fix it. Later. Like, when I'm not in office, so I don't have to catch the political fallout." Focus on the president's foreign policy skills--this is the main things a president is called upon to do by the Constitution.
