Check around online for scrapcraft sites and see if you have the needed items at home. You can use Google to look for scrap crafts or kids' crafts or just crafts and see what you find. Or, find a recipe and make a cake or cookies or something like that. Chilly homes always feel much warmer when there's a nice smell of baking.
You may also want to help out by phoning any elderly folks you know to make sure they're allright in all this cold. If you go to church, phone your church and ask if they need any help in phoning people to see how they're doing. Many churches would appreciate the help. If the church office is closed because of the cold snap, phone the pastor at home!
