I think you need to look at the following:
1. That they are an honest, decent and respectful individual. One that will represent the country nobly on the world's stage.
2. That they best represent your interests on the issues that are important to you
3. Track record...campaign promises are rarely kept...so look to a person's record to find out how well they deliver on the promises they've made in the past.

Whether or not they will be able to defend us if more attacks come against the United States. Their past experience or knowledge of combat and war. Their ability to tell us what they actually plan on doing if they get elected. Their values, lifestyle, and who pays for their campaign.
