Fact: The latest figures are from 1996 - there were then 486 million cars and 185 million trucks and buses = total of 671 million vehicles.
It can only have gone up in the last 10 years.

http://www.worldwatch.org/node/1537 this says about 590million as of 2002 current estimates are up to 700 million which seems high because only about 20 million cars are produced a year.

about 90 days ago we had the same question
cars have been made before 1900 and with all the juck yards and the ones being restored there is no way to count them all.
