I don't see why upgrading your internet should affect the CD-rom drive. However, I have had occasional situations where my hard drive "forgets" it has CD drives. Click on START, then on MY COMPUTER. A window will open showing your C: drive, your printer, user folders, and any CD drives on your computer. If your CD drive is not listed here, something has interferred with your computer seeing that you have one. My OS is Windows XP.

Click on START, then place your pointer on ALL PROGRAMS. Run the pointer up the programs menu to ACCESSORIES. Another menu pops up whenever there is an arrow >. Run your pointer over to SYSTEM TOOLS, then to SYSTEM RESTORE. Run this program to reset the computer to an earlier time. This does not affect files, only settings. Close all other programs as you will need to RESTART your computer when the System Restore program finishes. Hope this helps.
