hello,
I have a gateway laptop...and I was checking my email and suddenly a blue screen came for like..2 seconds. The only thing I could read was "an error has been detected" After the screen, the computer automatically restarted. what happened?

When the computer's splash screen is up, press F8 repeatedly until the boot menu comes up. Look for a "Disable automatic reboot on stop" or similarly worded option. Pick it and when it stops write down EXACTLY what it says, every bit including numbers and such. Check google for some ideas as to the cause, or ask here.

Could be anything. Computers often times will just do that once in a while. It's really nothing to worry about unless it happens frequently.

I would make sure you have all the windows updates and all the updated drivers from Gateways website.

Another option would be to look in the "Event Viewer" under "Administrative Tools" in your control panel. It should have a red "x" marked somewhere on that list. That would give you more details as to what caused the blue screen.
