How do I remove the yellow stain left on a vinyl floor from the backing of a throw rug? I tried full strength bleach and it did not work. Any sound tried and tested suggestions?

Sorry you will not be able to remove the yellow stain, it is now permanent and part of the vinyl flooring. It is caused by a chemical reaction with the rubber backing and the vinyl. Vinyl flooring manufactures must own stock in the area rug manufactures! Since the two are a bad combination, yet there are no warnings that the rugs will ruin the flooring,

If the color sunk into the vinyl, i would say you are up the creek(especially if bleach didn't work), but if there is a residue that is yellow--you'll have more of chance...

I've used this stuff called Carbona "Stain Devils" which I found in the local grocery store...they have different kinds for different stains, but I used the one for Chewing Gum and Glue and got some old stains off of a plastic-type table that I thought would never come up...That would probably work for you if it was a rubber backing..
It was really cheap too!!

Good luck!

You can try pure ammonia, be careful not to inhale, in ammonia won't cut it I would say it is there to stay.
