My dog is sitting here right now woofing quietly in her sleep while her legs are twitching in a running motion.

Dogs and some other animals have a higher thought process which allows them to dream. Some less intelligent animals may not have the ability to dream limited simply by biology.

It has been demonstrated that at least the higher animals (other mammals) dream in laboratory experiments. In REM sleep, dogs can be heard to whimper. Cats have been injected with special drugs to negate the effect of muscle relaxation in sleep (So that they could move while dreaming) - and were found to hunt down imaginary prey.

I don't see why not. If we humans can dream, then there isn't anything from stopping other animals from dreaming. We actually aren't that much different from other animals, if you think about it.

Yes. If you've ever owned a dog, you'll see them move their legs, whine, breath heavily, and act like they're walking or running all while fast asleep. It appears that dogs can dream.

Yes they do. For example: If you own a dog;take him out for a good walk. Preferably the whole day. When it goes to sleep you can observe it as it changes positions frequently. It´ll maybe even bark for no apparent reason.

Yes.. my dogs do. The puppy will bark and yelp in her sleep. One time she was passed out and her tail started wagging. It was hilarious :)
