Frederick Prinz von Anhalt (born in Germany, circa 1948) is best known as the ninth husband of the Hungarian-born American actress Zsa Zsa Gabor. He is technically and legally her eighth husband. Gabor's previous marriage to Mexican actor Felipe de Alba was invalid and subsequently annulled, since she was not divorced from Michael O'Hara when she wed de Alba at sea.
Originally born Hans Robert Lichtenberg (other sources state Hans-Georg Lichtenberg), he was adopted in 1980 by an elderly German princess of Anhalt, who used such adoptions as a form of income. The transaction was masterminded by "Consul" Hans-Hermann Weyer, a German who pioneered the selling of noble titles, honorary doctorates and other decorations in Germany. As a result, Hans took the name Frederick Prinz von Anhalt and is also known as simply Frederick von Anhalt.
This does not, however, indicate that he has a noble title, which have been extinct in Germany since 1919. Instead Prinz von Anhalt is his post-adoption surname and carries with it no legal connection as a representative or member of the Anhalt dynasty.
He married Zsa Zsa Gabor in 1986, and they are still married as of August 2006, making it Gabor's longest marriage by far.

Von Anhalt's royal credentials have been the cause of speculation over the years. According to stories in the British press, he was born Robert Lichtenberg, the son of a German policeman, and bought his title after being adopted as an adult by a bankrupt daughter-in-law of the last kaiser.

Germany used to be made up of lots of small states. One of those states was Anhalt. But that hasn't been independent in hundreds of years.

He is not an actual prince. He bought an adoption into the royal family as an adult... I didn't even know you could do such a thing but when I wondered about him I did a search and that's what i found out.

He's not a prince at all. The title is really his adoptive name, and hasn't existed for nearly 100 years.

He is Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband. He was adopted (as an adult?!?) by the daughter of the former Kaiser of Germany. He bought his title. He seems like he's a few eggs short of a dozen.
