Here is a comprehensive list of Kumbha Mela dates with the names of the host cities. The Maha Kumbh Mela is held every three years in each of four different locations (Allahabad, Haridwar, Nasik and Ujjain), returning to each of four places every twelve years. Besides the regular Kumbha Mela, an Ardh (half) Kumbha Mela (festival) takes place six years after the Maha Kumbh in each location.

Allahabad Ardha Kumbha Mela 2007

The holy city of Allahabad (Prayag) is host to the next Ardh (half) Kumbh Mela (festival) from 3rd January 2007 to 26th February 2007

Haridwar Ardha Kumbh Mela 2010 (March-April)

Haridwar (the gateway to God) will host the Ardha Kumbha mela in the year 2010

Allahabad (Prayag) Maha Kumbh Mela 2013 (January 27th to February 25th)

The Maha Kumbha Mela will again be held at Allahabad (Prayag) in the year 2013.

Nasik Maha Kumbh Mela 2015 (August 15th to September 13th)

Nasik will host the Maha Kumbha Mela in 2015

Ujjan Maha Kumbh Mela 2016 (April 22nd to May 21st)

The Kumbha Mela in the year 2016 will be held at Ujjain,

My dear, MahaKumbh Falls on every 12th year only, this year, it was ArdhaKumbh i.e. Half Kumbh. This will last upto 26th of Feb,2007..

The precise dates of the Kumbh Mela are astronomically determined, based upon precise calculations of the positions of the Sun, the Moon and Jupiter. At Prayag, the Maha Kumbh Mela is held in the month of Magha (January/February in the Gregorian calendar). The highest spiritual merit is attached to bathing on the new moon day, Amavasya, when Jupiter is in Taurus and both the Sun and Moon are in Capricorn. At Haridwar, the Kumbh Mela is held in the months of Phalgun and Chaitra (February/March/April), when the Sun passes to Aries, the Moon is in Sagittarius and Jupiter is in Aquarius. In Ujjain, the festival is held in the month of Vaishakha (May), when other planets are in Libra, the Sun and Moon are in Aries and Jupiter is in Leo. At Nashik, the Kumbh Mela takes place in the month of Shravana (July), when the Sun and Moon are in Cancer and Jupiter is in Scorpio.

It is also said that the elixir of life is filled in a Kumbh (Pot) in Swarg (heaven) so with certain combination of Sun - Moon - Jupiter, the elixir falls from heaven to earth, and kumbh mela is held on those locations.
